It was still muscle memory at this point, sneaking off in the middle of the night, away from Dodgers territory and closer to the slums, closer to where his young puppy love had been. Most of the time they had met halfway, in no man's land where neither could be punished for trespassing, only for cavorting with the enemy. If you asked Spider, that was a stupid thing anyway; why shouldn't he be free to love who he wanted? He was still too young to think of pups, and he wasn't sure that he wanted them anyway, what with his upbringing. The last thing he wanted was for one of his sons or daughters to be tasked with raising a whole litter and themselves. Without pups in the equation, the question of gang differences shouldn't have been such a big deal.
Of course, it had been; it was a big enough deal that he had gotten himself kicked out of the Dodgers, and had to go to the Saints, where he lost his tail and a good sense of his dignity. Spider thought that bringing Helen back to the Dodgers with him would do them both some good, but now all eyes were on him as the traitor who came crawling back, whose tail would be between his legs if he didn't have it, with another traitor in tow. That he had been given a leadership position only made sure that everyone hated him more. Spider took their hatred to fuel him, making him determined to be the best scraper lieutenant that the Dodgers had to offer, but Helen was too broken down by the constant hatred sent her way, and he couldn't blame her for leaving.
Just because she went back to the Yardies, however, didn't mean that Spider didn't still want to see her. He hadn't set up a meeting place for them, so he did what he did the first time: aggressively trespass into Yardies territory and hope to come across her. The Dodger was surprised that he didn't run into any angry walkers as he crossed the border, and the stench of Yardies was present but stale as he got closer and closer to the center, where he found nothing but a desolate wasteland and a few broken bodies, riddled with bullets and bleeding on the ground. Spider couldn't help himself, didn't even wait to see if Helen was among those massacred there. He let out a pained and mournful howl, one sure to awake anyone hanging around the territory.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
