// I just want to be Jekyll, but I'm always fighting Hyde. ||
The sun was abandoning the earth once again. Snow had fallen all day, but the grey clouds had finally fled, clearing the way for a beautiful sunset. The sky looked like it was on fire, with beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows captivating any onlookers. If only the air felt like it was on fire. It was cold, dang it! The fresh powder lying on the ground didn't help matters, either. It nipped at his paws with each step that he took. Not too much farther now, he told himself as he plodded along. Where was he heading? It was called Palestone Manor. Word around the street was the humans abandoned it years ago. There was nothing wrong with the building, at least not for a dog. The snow was everywhere. Out there in the open there was no shelter from any bitter winds that might blow. The abandoned manor sounded like a good place to check out. A dry place to sleep for a night or two? Yeah, the thought was too tempting to ignore. The temperature was quickly dropping as the sun went further beneath the horizon. The loner looked up at the burning sky... and that was when his darkness started to come out.
Nighttime is near... that's when the ghosts and ghouls come out to play... Trax shook his head as he muttered,"No... don't go there..." His mind rarely listened to him, though. Will you be going out to play with them? He picked up a trot, glancing around him quickly in a desperate search to find something to take his mind off of... himself. Monsters, ghouls, and ghosts usually get along... you can't run away from it... your darkness, you can't keep it inside... embrace it! In frustration, the tri-colored canine growled. "No! I'm not dark, I'm not a monster!" With that cried into the lonesome world around him, he broke into a run. The mansion's chimneys peaked into his vision and the muffled sound of waves breaking at the shore slipped into his ears. The sounds were nothing more than static as his thoughts attempted to run away with him. The guilt, the fear, it was beginning to strangle him yet again. It was a far too common occurrence and the onset of night never helped with keeping the terrifying thoughts at bay. The monster's going to come out and play... mothers hide your children! Completely unaware of his surroundings, he screamed. Just screamed. A long, loud scream. It surely wouldn't help him stay discreet if anybody was within earshot, but all he could think of was silencing that voice inside of him that he just couldn't control. "Shut up!!" Trax slid to a stop and vigorously shook his head, then his entire body. Maybe he could shake the tormentor away. He didn't even realize that he had stopped at the bottom of the manor's driveway. If anybody was home, they sure knew he was there.
ooc: Hope this was an okay starting point!
