The Canine Chronicle
Hey everyone!
Firstly, let us apologize for skipping last month's edition. Everyone on the staff team hit a super busy time and we couldn't find the time to get together and plan site stuff.
But we've got a ton of updates and new stuff in this month's edition to make up for lost time! Stay tuned for site updates, rule/procedure updates, and some new stuff!
Top Posters (And An Update!)
Congratulations to:
1st Place: @river with 24 posts.
2nd Place: @panicky with 14 posts.
3rd Place: @misfit with 8 posts.
And the Top Posting Characters:
Yardies: @eve with 6 posts.
Crabs: @gilligan , @caspienne , and @jaladri all tying with 7 posts.
Dodgers: @nikolai with 5 posts.
Saints: @cricket with 4 posts.
Loners: @sistergrimm with 6 posts.
All winning players and characters will automatically be given their Kibble prizes!
This will be the last month we are choosing the Top Posters this way: combining all the posts per player and awarding the Top Posting Player. While this makes the most sense, we've noticed that it's often the same people winning and we want to broaden the spectrum a bit. Instead of tallying up each player's posts for a large prize, we're going to instead choose the top posting character and award their player a smaller prize. If there are multiple top posting characters, we'll use a randomizer app and choose the winner out of them that way. We hope to give a few more players a chance at winning this way!
We will still be awarding first place (250 Kibble), second place (100 Kibble), and third place (50 Kibble) Kibble prizes to our top posting characters. Additionally, the gold Top Poster Title will still go on the OOC Account of the winning character's player.
October Spotlights
Member of the Month
Mocha
- She is so lovely to talk to and her writing is brilliant! I love her graphics too. Such an awesome addition to the community!
Duo of the Month
Brutus & Nikolai
- They have been through a lot together and you can see them trying to help each other through these tough times and it is lovely.
- They have experienced quite a bit together. They’re nothing alike, but they’ve been brought together through not only the loss of Tobi, but the trauma of a shared experience...finding her body.
Scariest of the Month
Sister Grimm
- She’s not so much “scary” as she is “creepy.” She’s definitely a different breed of eerie - from the way that she talks, to the way she refers to the forest, to the emptiness of her stare! River plays this aspect really well in her, and I think it’s definitely a cool thing to see a different side of “scary” onboard!
- It’s her appearance and nature that make Sister Grimm an imposing character, one that you could even call ‘scary’. Her ‘dead’ eyes, the chain around her neck, and the rumors told about her being a ‘witch’ definitely give her the title for this month.
Funniest of the Month
Jack
- Gunner’s witty writing style brings Jack to life - even when she seemingly isn’t trying! I always enjoy reading Jack’s posts when they include witty prose - and even exasperated NPCs in the background. Hehe
- Jack is hilarious honestly. It really is Gunner’s writing that makes it so. He’s the doggiest dog in the whole rp, just the little mannerisms that he’s got make him seem very canine, and it’s just silly.
Most Unique of the Month
Sasha
- Sasha is trying very hard to fit in and she is so endearing. She has passion and spirit, and if she were human I would lost certainly want to be her friend.
Thread of the Month
We're Waiting on the Fall of This Dead Song City
- This thread is full of conflict, the heartbreak of having to leave home and trust a stranger to help you survive.
Quote of the Month
"RUN! GET OUTTA HEA!" -- Daire
- The normal reserved Daire brought to terror for her gang and this simple quote shows it clear as day.
Reverting Back to Non-Anonymous Spotlight Voting
Many of you really pushed for anonymous spotlight voting, but once it was implemented, only two people have voted in the following months. We've decided to move it back to non-anonymous voting, the original way, which was just replying to the Spotlights thread with your nominations.
At the moment, we're open to suggestions to help make the process better. A lot of you wanted anonymous voting, but we can't keep it if no one actually uses it and votes. We've seen more people vote non-anonymously and for now, we're reverting back to this until we find a better solution for everyone.
Activity Check Update
We've begun tracking everyone's monthly activity using a better method and no longer need players to provide a post during our Activity Checks.
We do, however, still need you guys to check in! We depend on your check-ins to ensure our [a href="Players' Characters Roster is updated, to know when you are dropping a character, and to know when you guys are updating your characters' applications! There may be some more important matters added to the Activity Check in the future, but rest assured, we still need you guys to check in!
Character Inactivity Warnings
Some of you may have already been acquainted with how we've been dealing with inactive characters lately. To those of you who are not, at the start of each new month, players will be messaged and warned if their characters are found to have zero posts in the previous month. In the message, players are given a two week deadline to provide a post for their violating character(s); if the player fails to provide the post, their character account(s) are deactivated and the character slot(s) associated with them are removed. The only way to get the character back is to purchase another slot through the Barc Shop. Additionally, offending players will be unable to earn, purchase, be gifted, or win a character slot for 30 days after their character is deactivated for inactivity.
For any questions regarding this update, please ask a Staff! To avoid this entirely, please make sure you make at least one post with each of your characters each month!
A Note on Auxiliary Characters
We will be checking activity before accepting existing players' auxiliary characters from now on. To pick up a new character, we'd like to see around 5 posts recently made with each of your current characters to ensure you have the motivation, time, and can ultimately handle a new character.
If you're thinking about picking up a new character in the future and want to ensure that you've been keeping up good activity, ask us in the General Maintenance! We'll let you know if any of your characters need improvement! You can also do this yourself by counting your characters' posts in the previous months (via the Activity tab in the profile). At least 5 posts with each character is what we like to see!
Vice Promotions
It's time to throw auditions out the window!
With most gangs having a full set of Lieutenants or Enforcers now, we've decided that it'd be OK to allow promotions to Vice instead of requiring auditions and promotion tasks to be completed! Of course, it'd be a huge plus if some of the tasks were underway or completed at the time of the promotion, but to ensure rank shuffles are a lot less clunky and spaced out, we're allowing promotions to be a thing. It also makes much more sense that a dog with previous leadership experience and ability would be promoted over a dog who has none.
Who gets promoted and when is entirely up to the gang leader and would only happen upon the Vice slot becoming vacant; there are no usurpings unless discussed with the character's player (and staff!) beforehand!
OK, no not completely!
In the case that there are no Lieutenants or Enforcers available (or suitable) for promotion, auditions will be needed to fill the position.
Broken Tongue
With the option to have animal NPCs on Infidelis, the need for communication between dog and animal has it's time!
We bring you what the dogs call "Broken Tongue."
Broken Tongue is a choppy, broken form of English that lesser creatures speak. Lesser creatures are considered any prey animal or small predator - such as squirrels, ferrets, birds, rats, bats, raccoons, deer, etc. The limited form of English these creatures can learn is comprised mostly of keywords and body language. Rarely do these creatures ever speak full sentences or become fully fluent.
It would NOT be realistic for Lesser Animals to say:
"There's an intruder on the beach! I saw him!"
But it WOULD be realistic for Lesser Animals to say:
"Yardie! Bad dog! Beach!"
It's fair to say that each species has its own dialect and way of communicating. The English that a deer perhaps learns may be drastically different from the way a dog speaks, possibly making communication difficult between both parties until they learn to understand each other.
In the future, should anyone pick up an Urban Creature, there may be an exception made to the language rule within reason, given only to make it easier to roleplay your creature! We’ll have a guide up on Broken Tongue soon; but for now, please fire your questions at staff and we’ll help you better understand!
Open Threads List (V2)
The Open Threads List is back online in its original form as a staff-updated list! We think you guys got much better use out of it that way, instead of relying on each other to upload the threads to the list. A member of the staff will update it weekly, adding new open threads and removing the ones that have been replied to. We hope this helps everyone find open threads around site easier

Advertising Contest
Like we mentioned in the recent past, Infidelis is having an advertising contest soon! And we mean soon - hopefully within the next week or two! While, as previously mentioned, it’ll be a little different than your typical advertising contests, it’s a fantastic way to earn those ‘hard to achieve’ rewards and goodies within the Barc Shop! So be on the lookout for it, and we look forward to all the wonderful future people you’ll help bring to Infidelis!
Almost 1 Year Old!!!
Next month is Infidelis' birthday! Yayyy!!! We'll officially be 1 year old! Boy, does time fly! Get amped up for an exciting Birthday Event in November with fun games and cool prizes!
