Chapter 5: As Dark Clouds Gather
This is the fifth chapter of our sitewide plot! To move on, we need the available threads to be signed up for and completed by our members!
You’ll notice that there’s significantly less sign-ups and more open prompts. Hopefully this will help all of you feel more comfortable participating in our plot threads without the strict posting window looming over your heads. We're giving you the reigns to drive your own plot thread! Additionally, you can remix the prompts provided, but please don’t plot out any major, large-scale changes without asking staff first!
The few threads throughout that still require sign-ups still use the posting window, so the reminders below apply to those!
Each gang has its own thread sign-ups page -- go to your character's corresponding gang page to sign up for a plot thread or nab an open prompt! If it's a shared plot point between two gangs, you might be directed to a different page to ensure there's no conflict or overlapping sign-ups! For any questions, please direct them to the #help channel on our Discord or reach out to staff!
A Few Important Reminders...
- Sitewide Plot threads (ones you had to sign up for) should be prioritized! The quicker these move along, the quicker we can move the plot along!
- You are allowed to sign up for multiple threads with multiple characters, but please ensure the events in this timeline don't clash with your characters' timelines!
- All replies in the second posting round will be subject to our limited posting window. Each person will have 5 days to reply before they can be skipped!
- If you're a thread leader, it's your responsibility to start the thread and keep it going! Don't let it get stuck on one person for two weeks; remember the limited posting window! Don't be afraid to tag people in the #tag-ur-it channel to remind them to post!
- Threads that are the direct result of another will go in chronological order with the next thread only being created after the other is nearly completed.
- Please make sure to mark plot threads with the new "P!" tag so we all know it's a sitewide plot thread!
To sign up for a thread, please check that it has a "Participants" section listed beneath it. If it does, it's a thread you can sign up for! Please fill out the form below for each thread you'd like to sign up for.
Thread Date:
Short Description of Thread: (applicable only if there's multiple threads on the same date, let us know which thread you're signing up for!)
Characters Signing Up: (list the character(s) you wish to sign up for this thread)
Roles Being Fulfilled: (if applicable, fill in the role your character will be fulfilling)
Willing to Start?" (let us know if you're willing to be a thread leader)
Please wait until a Staff Member gives you the OK to start a plot thread!
APR 01: Tensions between Dodgers and Yardies are reaching an all time high. With so many of their members stolen away by catchers back in March and the valuable loss of many resources thanks to the Yardies' constant attacks and raids, there's little they can do to combat their mortal enemies. Stress and inner turmoil run rampant within the gang as they struggle to remain neutral and on the defensive with their foes.
How much longer will they stay silent before they bite back?
OPEN PROMPT (APR 01 - 19): Have a thread where your character goes on a patrol and confronts a trespassing dog. Dogs in the Security job need all the help they can get! From passing by pets, pesky loners, or, most importantly, thieving Yardies. Dogs who stray too close to the border or even look like they want to cross it, chase them out! Maybe your character feels a bit uneasy about their hyper defensive patrols or maybe they're happy to finally start retaliating against their enemies!
OPEN PROMPT: Between the attacks that have become something of a norm for the Dodgers since March and beyond, your character decides to make an effort to replenish what has been stolen from their storage! Have thread where they either hunt or accompany their gangmates in the Resourcing job to add some stuff back to their storage!
APR 20: A small group of dog's rally against the recent attacks made on their gang. Against the command of their Boss and without the support of their gang, a patrol is formed to give the Yardies a taste of their own medicine. They catch a small patrol of Yardies off guard, and though it wasn't intended, end up roughing them up pretty bad in an all-out showdown.
OPEN PROMPT (APR 21 - 27): The 'success' of the patrol seems to raise a bit of morale back at home! Your character feels as though maybe they have an actual fighting chance against those brutes! Have a thread where your character openly steals materials or food from the Yardies! Maybe they're stopping the scoundrels in the middle of stealing from Dodger territory or maybe they decide to trespass into Yardie territory themselves! Let them know that two can play this game!
APR 28: Chase doesn’t return to the abandoned apartments that night to sleep with his gang. Unusual, but not alarming, given the Boss often had trouble sleeping lately. Most dogs put it off with the thought of him patrolling, wandering the city to combat his sleeplessness.
APR 29: A pair of Scrapers head out at dawn for their morning scavenge. They head down an alleyway on the edge of Dodger turf, looking to rummage through a dumpster back there when they find their Boss’ remains! Similar to how they found their former gangmate, Hydra, Chase’s body is desecrated, mangled, and left for snooping noses. The sight is overwhelmingly sad, and this time, there’s no one to go to, to tell them that it’ll be alright and they’ll get to the bottom of this.
What’s left to do? The pair run back to the Labyrinth and screaming at the top of their lungs, tell all the Dodgers in the area what they had just found!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I have threads based off the events happening this chapter?
A: Absolutely! These are what we call "spin-off threads"! In fact, with so many big events going on in this chapter, we recommend that you do! We'd still love for players to engage in the plot events even if they didn't sign any of their characters up for any of the plot threads!
Q: Can I sign up for multiple plot threads?
A: As long as you can post regularly to them, yes! And don't worry about being a thread hog! We usually are short on sign-ups, rather than threads!
Q: My thread partner hasn't posted in the 5-day window. Can I skip them? Will they be annoyed with me?
A: Yes, you can skip them! We encourage you to skip them to keep the thread going. Don't worry about them being annoyed with you - they shouldn't be! They signed up for the thread knowing the posting window and what happens when they can't make a post within that time frame.
We're so glad that everyone here is so polite! If you're very concerned with angering someone, you can always shoot them a PM or a DM, some reminder that they're nearing the end of the posting window and ask whether they're able or planning to post. Chances are, you'll get the greenlight to skip them or you'll get a confirmation that they'll send in a post within the next day or so.
However, if someone has mentioned that they will post, but hasn't and it's been a week or more, you've got the greenlight from us to post to keep your thread going. Your thread partner can pick up where they left off in the next posting round!
