The early morning brought a heavy tide, a to and fro that splashed against the docks and sprayed Czar at the legs. The sun was hidden beyond the clouds, showing little indication of the time but Czar knew it was early. He could tell from the climbing of the tides, it’s delicate dance against the old and delicate wood. Even still the sky was coloured in muted oranges and pinks, a plethora of intermingling colors that stretched their arms out toward him, caught his attention and the stare of his amber eyes. What he was doing here, Czar was uncertain but many a sleepless night had brought him from his den yet again and whilst wondering he had found the docks. His fitful rest was beginning to become a problem, taking a toll on him now that’d he’d found work within the gang. Perhaps one of these days, he would garner a proper nights sleep but for now slumber eluded the mottled beast. He was to do without. Strange too, for he felt tired, his bones were weary and his mind exhausted but the very moment he went to lay his head down and close his eyes, images would begin to dance across his head. Reveries of his past that slid past his eyes at alarming speed, rendering any semblance of sleep lost. Thus he would stray from his confines and find something else to do. Lately it had been with Cleo but it had seemed Czar has witnessed much less of her lately. If he was being honest her presence of lack there of, saddened greatly but he’d never admit such things.
Even now he silently hoped that she come bounding up behind him, her tone but an ornery afterthought to her speech. Her guarded words and her dodgy questions, he longed for it all but he knew that he would not find her here. Instead, the brute watched as the moon faded in the distance, as the sun rose beyond the clouds and the morning began alive once again. He would have duties to attend to later in the day but for now he would remain among the waves, the gentle lapping sounds of the shore and the seagulls that dipped above his head. It was far better than the screams that haunted his twilight hours. Perhaps one of these days, Czar would get a well-deserved rest but for not he stewed within the horizon, basked in the multicoloured light that shone down upon him. He’d have to gather his wits about him if he was about to venture out today but that was an issue for future Czar. Present Czar was currently quite content, admiring the salty ocean air before him as if he called it home and considering he’d been in the Eyes’ for a few months now then perhaps...he very well did call this place home.
